Registration for King County Post-lessons

King County Post-Lessons are in-class companion programs to take place after field trips to our facilities. They re-enforce concepts brought up during the field trip and introduce stewardship behaviors.

Please use the registration form below to register for the post-lesson that corresponds to your field trip topic.

Humans and the Water Cycle Post Lesson This is a follow up lesson for the Humans and the Water Cycle program. This lesson takes place in-person at your school. This lesson is delivered in the school after students have already attended our Humans and the Water Cycle Program at South Plant.  This lesson builds upon what the students learned about wastewater, the engineering solutions that were put in place at South Plant, and the engineering design process.  Students will spend time thinking about some common water problems in your community to understand and develop solutions to water problems in our daily lives.

Stormwater Engineers Post Lesson This is a follow up lesson for the Stormwater Engineers program. This lesson takes place in-person at your school. This lesson is delivered at the school after students have already attended our Stormwater Engineers Program at South Plant or Georgetown Wet Weather Station.  It builds upon what the students learned about stormwater, the engineering solutions that were put in place at the treatment plant, the engineering design process and using scientific practices by applying the same understanding and skills in the student’s home community. Students identify areas in their schoolyard where they see or have seen stormwater issues, research those areas, and then use this knowledge to begin the process of developing a potential solution.

Urban Ecosystems Post Lesson This is a follow up lesson for the Urban Ecosystems program. This lesson takes place in-person at your school. In this lesson, students will consider what their schoolyard provides for people, plants and animals. Students will create a map of the schoolyard and investigate which organisms are using the space. Students will use the data they collect to argue for changes to the schoolyard that better supports people, plants and animals.

Please coordinate dates and times with your teaching team to allow us to send one staff member to teach at least 2 programs at your school/site per day. We cannot visit a school to teach one program for one teacher.

  • Include all teacher first and last names, email addresses, and school contact information.

  • Please provide non-overlapping time slots for each class receiving in-person programs.

    • Humans and the Water Cycle is a 60-minute program.

    • Stormwater Engineers and Urban Ecosystems are 90-minute programs.

  • A teacher or responsible adult must be present for the program at all times.

  • 30 students max per class preferred. We are able to accommodate classes with more than 30 students enrolled, but we are not able to accommodate multiple classes combining into one program. For example, two 3rd grade classes with 15 students each cannot combine into one program, each teacher must schedule their own session with us.

  • Your form will not submit if all fields with (required) are not completed.
